Conference Medicare 3.0 SOS / SOS Medicare 3.0 Conference

The SOS Medicare 3.0 conference aims to ensure that defending and expanding Medicare is on the 2025 election agenda. The conference builds on past SOS Medicare conferences held in 1979 and 2007 and would continue to amplify a vision for the future of Medicare.

The Parliament building

Our Aim

To continue to build on the vision of Medicare and serve as a rallying cry to defend against privatization and ever-increasing profiteering in our health care system.  We aim to unite individuals and groups to build a stronger coalition advocating for public health care.

Our Goals

The focus is not just on defending our current system but on envisioning a better future—one that provides improved primary care, mental health services, long-term care, and more.

We aspire to create an inclusive health care system that tackles racism, addresses the legacy of colonialism, and eliminates all forms of discrimination. This vision includes making health care jobs some of the most rewarding and respected in our communities.

Together, we can work toward a public health care system that truly serves everyone in Canada. A renewed and strengthened coalition of groups and individuals ready to rally for public health care.

Proposed Themes

  • Tackling the health care privatization agenda
  • The health human resources crisis
  • Equity, diversity and inclusion in our health care system and ensuring cultural safety
  • Mental health
  • Safe long-term care
