SOS Medicare Conference, 1979
The first SOS Medicare Conference was held in Ottawa and sponsored by the Canadian Labour Congress,
SOS Medicare brought together a broad coalition of advocates to defend against forces attempting to erode Medicare and aimed to build on its existing accomplishments.
Tommy Douglas delivered the opening remarks, and the Canadian Health Coalition was formed as a result of the meetings.
SOS Medicare 2, 2007
SOS Medicare 2: Looking Forward, Building on Tommy Douglas’ Vision of Medicare was organized by the Canadian Health Coalition, the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives and the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy at the University of Regina. It was held in Regina, May 3-4, 2007.
